Pettine

This is Pettine – my new fall shawl!

I am loving it. It was fun to knit – lots of garter stitch but with interest thrown in for good measure. And who the hell thought blocking could be fun??! But the rumors are indeed true. Blocking lace shawls with blocking wires is indeed fun. It’s magic! Especially when you use wires you bought at the plumbing supply shop from men with very scarred-up hands and forearms who were bemused but receptive and friendly about the reason for my purchase. It was cute.

Welcome fall!

TOTALLY cute… you and your shawl!! I’m so going down to our crusty hardware store to find some blocking wires… partly because I need some, too, partly just for the strange looks. OH the things that amuse us!!

GREAT job. I am going to knit one, too.
